Year 2

Welcome to Year 2,
at the start of the new Autumn term, we produced a short booklet to tell you all about us,

Year 2 Information Booklet
Year 2 is a very important and busy year for your child, so we have put together this information  booklet to show some of the ways that can help at home.

In this booklet we have included information about assessment, targets for Writing, Reading and Maths, Phonics, Tricky Words, How to help with spellings and handwriting. We have also included a topic grid so that you can talk or do some research at the library or on the internet about what we are doing in school with your child. To view the full booklet, click here.

Topic Guides
At the beginning of each half term we will be sending home information about all the topics we will be covering in science, art, history, religious education, music, geography, and PSCHE for that term. We will also include ideas and suggestions to help you explore these topics with your child. Homework sheets may be sent home as part of these topics – please help your child to complete and return this work to school.

'I am Proud' of my child

Throughout the year there will be many moments where you feel exceptionally proud of your child’s achievements. These might be achievements related to school, home or activities that they take part in beyond the school day. We would love to share these moments with you and would like to record them in your child’s ‘Learning Journey’.

Please complete one of the forms (click to download) - print a copy off and send in to your child’s class teacher. You might want to tell us about: how brave your child has been on a visit to the dentist; a sporting achievement; a musical achievement; something they have done to be particularly helpful or something to demonstrate growing maturity. ANYTHING that you are proud of we really look forward to hearing about from you.
