SATS Results

Below is a summary of the latest Year 2 SAT's results, showing Reinwood results compared with National Levels. As you can see attainment in all areas is well above national averages with great progress made by the children, especially at level 3. (Note the national expectation for a child at the end of Key Stage 1 is 2B).

Progress on last year's results:

Attainment in all areas is outstanding. Reading is higher than last years at all levels: 9% higher at 2b+; 4% higher at level 3.

Writing is also higher than last year with 99% of pupils achieving 2c+. Maths is 4% higher at 2b+ though level 3 is down by 2% at level 3. This is not a cause for concern since it still exceeds the Local Authority target and the school’s attainment in 2008.

Attainment in speaking & listening is excellent with 99% achieving 2c+. 48% achieved L3 which is 14% higher than last year. Results in science have also improved with 56% achieving L3. 97% achieved national expectations of 2b+.

What are SAT's?
SATS (Standard Assessment Tests) tests are given at the end of year 2. They are used to show your child's progress compared with other children born in the same month.

Key Stage 1 - SATs take place in year 2 (at the end of infants) throughout May. Each child is teacher assessed in Reading, writing (including spelling and handwriting), maths (including number, shape, space and measurement) and science. Your child's class teacher will set short pieces of work in English and maths to judge what level of ability your child is considered to be, i.e.:

Level 2:  Average for a typical 7 year old (Key Stage 1)
Level 3:  Average for a typical 9 year old
