Welcome to our Reception page.

At Reinwood, we believe that the job of educating is a never-ending one.

It begins before a child comes to school and continues long after they have left. By working in partnership with parents, we can further enhance a child’s learning.

Topic Guides
At the beginning of each half term we will be sending home information about all the topics we will be covering with suggestions about how you can help your child explore these topics at home (these can also be found by clicking the links below.)

Also, as your child will participate in a literacy activity every day and we will include details of what the literacy theme will be for that half term. You can help your child at home if you:

  • Look at your child’s sound book each evening to practise recognising the sounds or words that are in it. (Different ones will be added each week.)
  • Encourage your child to read or share a book with you each evening and discuss the story with them.
  • Please read the comments written by your child’s teacher in the Reading home/school book. There may be some specific activities in here for you to try out. We would also greatly appreciate it, if you could write in this book, as it will be a help to the class teacher to know how your child is doing at home.

'I am so Proud' of my child

Throughout the year there will be many moments where you feel exceptionally proud of your child’s achievements. These might be achievements related to school, home or activities that they take part in beyond the school day. We would love to share these moments with you and would like to record them in your child’s ‘Learning Journey’.

Please complete one of the forms (click to download ) - print a copy off and send in to your child’s class teacher. You might want to tell us about: how brave your child has been on a visit to the dentist; a sporting achievement; a musical achievement; something they have done to be particularly helpful or something to demonstrate growing maturity. We really look forward to hearing about anything that you are proud of.
